Imagining Autism

Featured story

A pastoral, tranquil and open playground: the smell of the Autumn leaves on the floor, the sound of the birds, the swinging hammock, the dappling sunlight through the trees. The children meet the inhabitants of the forest including mischievous Foxy hungry for eggs and the chatty woodpecker Dennis, whose wife has left him in charge of the eggs. Discover the shy and gentle mole who needs coaxing out of her den. Older children enjoy developing scenarios in this environment, responding to the rich stimuli: working out what to do with the stealing fox, creating campfires and telling stories using the talking stick. Younger children can explore the sensory nature of the environment.
