Milestone Event – Imagining Autism: Exploding the Myths

The Imagining Autism team will mark the end of the original phase of research funded by the ARHC with the final event, “Imagining Autism: Exploding the Myth” on Friday 21st March 2014. The event will be held in the Gulbenkian Theatre, Canterbury, where the results of the research project will be formally announced. We will also be previewing the¬†experimental film shot by Sarah Turner during the interventions at Helen Allison School, which explores the imagination of autism. Alongside this we will have presentations by the novelist David Mitchell (editor and translator of ‘The Reason I Jump’ and Kent Alumni), Adam Ockelford (Professor of Music at Roehampton University) and Ilona Roth (Senior Lecturer in Psychology). Adam will present on music and autism, with Ilona discussing autism and the imagination. The event will start at 5:30pm with a drink receptions, which will be followed by the screening and presentations until 8:30pm. Details will be made available on how to get tickets soon.
